About Me

I’m Kasper Rum! Welcome to my website.
I’m a 25-year-old artist and nonprofit worker based in Philadelphia. Although my major was in Neuroscience, I found my professional career take a large swing in a different direction, as many of us neuro majors have been known to do!
I've been working in a grassroots, membership-driven nonprofit organization for the past 2 years, having done all sorts of things mostly focusing on the tech and finance side of things. Much of the work I've done has been focused on developing and maintaining tech infrastructure for the benefit of our volunteers, staff, and members, and has involved directly interfacing with individuals to help them with their tech needs.
I also waste my time making art in three main forms- music, writing, and a video game. I try to enjoy the process of creating art while sticking to some set of principles or some specific approach to creating it- try nixing either of those two, and you may see yourself lost creating a mound of dissociated junk. I explore plenty of themes and frameworks and don’t fully buy any particular one of them as the absolute truth or some superlative goal that one ought to follow, but the theme most central to what I make and the moral frame I approach subjects from is the idea of “Abjection”, and the way the world may look through the abject lens. And ultimately, working towards that which might help remedy the maladies of abjectality (Excuse the informalities).
